In order to promote healthy lifestyles among young people and, in addition, to have a proposal where they can exercise in large and comfortable spaces, the Parque La Libertad (PLL) carried out improvement, repairs and extensions to the skate park and Parkour, which are now available for young people to enjoy.
According to the PLL, knowing the need and interest of young people to get closer to these practices, the skateboard track has a larger space that will allow users to perform more tricks and have more security, since there will be more distance between them; in addition, with this expansion, it will be possible to place more structures for their practice, but above all, to maintain the right conditions.
“In order to use these spaces, those interested must request an appointment in advance. Two spaces will be available every two hours, in order to continue respecting the protocols established by the Ministry of Health,” said Luis Acuña, Youth Manager of Parque La Libertad.
First conditioned Parkour circuit in the country. Last December saw the start of the construction of the first specialised circuit in the country for the practice of Parkour, a discipline known for moving from one point to another as fluidly as possible, using mainly the skills of the human body.
To make this space possible, the Costa Rican Parkour Federation provided advice on the design and placement of structures and pieces, as well as the support of Professor Raúl Solano Jiménez from Evolución Natural – an ally from the beginning of this process.
The first Parkour circuit in the country seeks to get young people away from the danger of this practice in the streets, as it is very common to see them doing it in some parks in the Greater Metropolitan Area, without any advice, reported the Parque La Libertad.
“For the past two years, Parque La Libertad has been known for offering short workshops for the practice of this discipline; in addition, the equipment was available, but there was no defined circuit for its practice. Now with these infrastructure improvements, the young people will have a safe and adequate place with good conditions, but also a space where they will receive professional advice, thanks to the support of the Costa Rican Parkour Federation,” Acuña said.

“The Youth Department invites all young people interested in learning, practising or perfecting either of these two disciplines to contact us, make an appointment and see how beautiful these places have become and give them the use they require,” concluded the Youth Manager.
In order to use these spaces, interested parties must request an appointment in advance by calling WhatsApp 8376-9848, from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The facilities can be used from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among the requirements, you must be at least 15 years of age.
