The Booktube 2019 National Meeting, which will take place from 1 to 7 December, in the framework of the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2019, will feature for the first time the participation of two Costa Ricans who have stood out in the country for promoting the habit of reading through their respective blogs on the Youtube video platform.
These are the young people Karla Acuña Arias and Alfredo Mora Fernández, identified by their reading promotion blogs @Gowithkary @Libropoliscr, respectively. Costa Ricans received the invitation from the Booktube Mexico National Meeting, so they will be on Aztec soil sharing with other booktubers from that country and other Latin American nations.
The participation of these digital cultural promoters in the International Book Fair in Guadalajara 2019, in Jalisco, Mexico, represents an opportunity to learn about the dynamics of work and strategies of authors and authors, publishers, libraries, cultural promoters and other media working in the area of literature and the promotion of reading, to replicate them in Costa Rica,, indicates the official document with which the Declaration of Cultural Interest was granted to the participation of Costa Ricans.
This participation is an opportunity to acquire training on digital communication focused on literature, as well as lectures and workshops on this field, to benefit the work that both promoters are doing in Costa Rica., states the letter signed by the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, and the Minister of Culture and Youth, Sylvie Durán.
Alfredo Mora, from Libropolis, said that this meeting in Guadalajara marks a precedent for booktubers in Costa Rica to have the opportunity, not only to attend the FIL Guadalajara and to participate in the Booktube 2019 National Meeting. But it is also a great opportunity to meet other generators of literary content on a Latin American level. We know this is one of the most important book fairs in Latin America and an opportunity to strengthen ties with people in the sector. Such as authors, booktubers, bookstagramers, bookbloggers, podcasters, publishers, among others; it is the time where we can all come together and share experiences. We are very proud to be able to attend and be the first Costa Ricans to participate in this international meeting.
At the Booktube 2019 National Meeting, Costa Ricans will have the opportunity to explore new ways of reading, from digital books to adaptations in entertainment platforms, according to the activity’s program. In addition, through their presence at the FIL Guadalajara, they will support the participation of Costa Rican publishers present at the literary meeting.
Both Mora and Acuña are active digital cultural promoters on the Costa Rican scene, along with other young people who are dedicated to this literary practice in the country. Costa Rican booktubers were in charge of the closing ceremony of the Costa Rica International Book Fair 2018, alongside the Minister of Culture and Youth; In addition, they have had multiple activities in the last editions of the IRPF.
