This exhibition highlights the role of the oxcart and the boyeros in the economic, social and cultural development of Costa Rica, showing through images and documents their active participation in the transport of coffee, bananas, sugar cane and their contribution to the development of the country’s commercial activities.

At the same time, it highlights other issues such as the development of the road network, the provisions that regulated the use of these vehicles by the boyeros, the identity and daily life that arose around the oxcart and its contribution as a basic element of Costa Rican art and folklore, which led to its declaration as a National Symbol of Labour.
