The government of the Republic extended the sanitary vehicle restriction on weekends from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., from Friday to Monday (until dawn), with the aim of reducing the amount of traffic on the roads as a preventive measure in the face of the national emergency.

This was reported by the Minister of Public Security, Michael Soto, at a press conference this Friday after noting that the measure applies for this weekend from Saturday morning from 8:00 p.m. and until 5:00 a.m. Monday and urged people to respect and abide by the measures of the Ministry of Health to stay at home.

“The faster we abide by the guidelines, the less people will be affected, we are saving lives and that is the way in which we can all collaborate. We call once again to please collaborate with the police and the other authorities who are on the street, safeguarding their integrity to mitigate the effects of the virus, ”said Minister Soto.

He added that to date a total of 540 fines have been made for violating the health provision of the Ministry of Health since the measure began the previous Tuesday night, this Friday the authorities made 212 parts to drivers who disrespected the order.

Finally, he recalled that exceptions will be made to those people who demonstrate that they are working, leaving their workplace or vice versa. “It is important to clearly identify those who are working, for example food delivery people and who demonstrate that they are employees of some express service,” explained the head of Public Security.
