In the main courtyard of the MNCR, the protocol ceremony and the delivery of the medal of merit in peace and democracy to the first emergency response bodies for their work in the care of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 and the indirect impact of Hurricane Eta in the country.
Among those awarded are, Alexandra Sánchez, Head of the Health Rectory Unit of the Huetar Norte Region; Daniel Calderón, director of the Public Force; Luis Enrique Fernández, officer of the Meritorious Fire Department; Jenny Jiménez, volunteer for the Costa Rican Red Cross; Ricardo Salazar, CNE liaison officer; Jaime Solís, Medical Specialist in Intensive Care at the San Juan de Dios Hospital and Yigeht Chaves, doctor of the Directorate of the Penitentiary Police.
President Alvarado thanked the representatives of the officials of the various institutions for the work carried out, “it has not been an easy year for anyone, but in particular their work is to recognize and thank as many times as necessary, for safeguarding the security of every citizen ”, he said.
“On behalf of the people of Costa Rica, we appreciate your hard, mystical, and constant work. Thank you for taking care of us and always being at the service of your country, “he said, while noting that” there are many men and women with sons, daughters and a family to take care of, but in addition to that, they protect us. This is the example of a supportive Costa Rica that represents us, ”Alvarado said.
