The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSNCR) will once again perform concerts with the public, starting this week, in educational centres and communities in the country, with chamber groups and implementing social distancing and health protocols.
For 2021, the OSNCR has programmed a total of 78 performances in different formats, such as the Official Season at the National Theatre of Costa Rica, the Special Season at the Melico Salazar Popular Theatre, presentations of the cultural outreach programme in different communities of the country and also virtual concerts to disseminate through social networks.
The first two performances of the year will take place with a string quartet at Ankids (kindergarten and school) and American International School (school and college), both in Heredia, with audiences of 40 to 60 students, aged 5 to 17.
“With great joy, this week we resumed the concerts with audiences in two educational centres, for students of different ages. This is in accordance with the health protocol approved by the Ministry of Culture and Youth. This will be the beginning of a programme of 78 concerts, which this year will take us to different venues in various provinces of the country, where Costa Ricans will be able to enjoy most of these concerts free of charge,” explained the director of the National Music Centre, Gabriel Goñi Dondi.
More than 65% of these performances can be enjoyed free of charge in different public spaces and educational centres in the country, through national tours and cultural outreach concerts.
