Additionally, the OSNCR will present two concerts of the Official Season 2020, together with the National Symphonic Choir, also recorded in the TPMS, and with the titular conductor Carl St. Clair.
For these presentations there were a total of 60 musicians and 75 choristers, who were installed on the stage, the lunette and the theater boxes with their respective distance, in compliance with the health protocol due to the pandemic.
The II Concert of the Official Season will be published on Friday, December 11, with the following works by French composers: “Requiem”, by Gabriel Fauré; “The grave” by Couperin and “My mother, the goose”, by Maurice Ravel. The presentation has the invited soloists: the Costa Rican baritone, José Arturo Chacón, and the Guatemalan soprano, Alejandra Flores.
The III Official Season Concert will be published on Friday, December 18, and will be a commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the OSNCR and the 250th anniversary of the birth of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven, through the interpretation of his “Ninth Symphony”, also known as “Coral”.
“The musicians and I have chosen a single work for this concert, the ‘Symphony number nine’, by Beethoven. The message that this great work brings us is that all humanity needs to become brothers. The meaning of these words has never been as important as it is today. On behalf of all the members of the National Symphony Orchestra, we deeply thank you for supporting us during the last 80 years as a Costa Rican musical treasure, ”commented the chief conductor of the OSNCR, Carl St. Clair.
For this work there were invited lyrical singers Sofía Corrales, from Costa Rica; Belém Rodríguez, from Mexico; Aquiles Machado, Venezuela-Spain, and Andrés Cascante, also from Costa Rica.
Lyrical Gala. The last concert of the year will be a Lyric Gala produced by the National Lyric Company, which will be presented on Sunday, December 20, at 5 p.m. This presentation will feature the OSNCR, the National Symphonic Choir and nine lyrical singers of different nationalities, as well as a musical program with arias by Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti, Puccini and Bizet. More details of this production will be provided shortly.
