Minister of Tourism resigns to attend to her health.

The President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, accepted this Wednesday the immediate and irrevocable resignation of the Minister of Tourism, María Amalia Revelo.

During an extraordinary session of the Governing Council, held this Wednesday morning, the economist Gustavo Segura Sancho was immediately appointed as the new ICT Executive President and Minister of Tourism.

Segura, graduated in Economics from the University of Costa Rica, has a master’s degree in Sustainable Development from INCAE.

In his professional career, he highlights extensive experience in hotel management and his participation in the Board of Directors of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, where he served as a director of said body for six years, five of which he held as vice president.

In addition, he participated in the materialization of the Tourism Sustainability certification for ICT as a representative of the private sector.

Revelo handed over his position to the president, thanking the trust placed by the entire government team. Health reasons are responsible for leaving the hierarchy.

“I want to reiterate my admiration, I am deeply proud of having been part of his cabinet and having thus had the opportunity to close my 40-year professional career serving the country,” Revelo said in his letter.

The president, for his part, expressed his deep gratitude to Doña María Amalia for the work done. In addition, he expressed his desire for a speedy and complete recovery.
