The authorities of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) maintain the goal of carrying out 1850 Covid-19 tests in Alajuelita and that is why they will extend the work until Friday. Xiomara Badilla, head of the Epidemiological Surveillance Sub-area, assured that “the Some people’s initial reluctance to attend the test made us move slower than planned, this because we require a number of samples so that the study’s conclusions reflect the epidemiological reality of the canton. ”
As reported by the CCSS through a press release, this massive test seeks to identify asymptomatic population that could be sick.
“There is a significant percentage of people who can suffer from the disease without manifesting symptoms, Badilla said.
According to the expert, she also seeks to detect, early, people who are infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and who so far have mild symptoms.
Sampling is carried out in 23 randomly chosen neighborhoods within the five districts that make up this Josefino canton and its logistics includes the deployment of around 100 CCSS officials, including: doctors, nurses, personnel in charge of medical records, epidemiologists, transportation personnel and primary care technical assistants.
