The Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, originally from Peréz Zeledón and former Deportivo Saprissa goalkeeper, showed off this March 10th in the match between Paris Saint Germain and Futbol Club Barcelona. Navas has experienced a well-deserved rise since Costa Rica’s stellar participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Navas, who is not strange on the European courts, has played since 2010 as a team like Albacete, Levante, Real Madrid and since September 2019 with his current home, Paris Saint Germain of France.
PSG and Barcelona
Barcelona entered playing defensively aware of the need to get a priority victory as a visitor. The first 30 minutes of the game Navas had to work hard to repel the attacks of the Barcelona.
The first goal was scored by Kylian Mbappé from the penalty spot seven minutes later, Argentine Leonel Messi with an impressive long-distance shot that dug into Keylor Navas’ angle, who despite throwing himself after the ball could not do more than remove it background of networks.
At minute 45 of the first half, PSG commits a foul in the area of the Costa Rican goalkeeper that becomes a penalty in favor of Bacerlona that is charged by Messi. Messi then had in his legs and 12 meters away the possibility of increasing the score to 2 goals in favor of Bacerlona with which his team could go to the next round and leave PSG out.
With the tensions to the maximum and the gaze of thousands of followers around the planet Messi trots towards the ball and shoots to the right side of Navas’ goal, a penalty that is more technical than powerful. However, the Costa Rican already famous for his effectiveness in saving penalties blocked the shot of what is considered by many to be the best player in the world.
The second half begins and plays with constant incredible saves by the Costa Rican who has been defined as the secret weapon of PSG by the team’s own fans. For the second half, PSG fell back to take care of the tie as Barcelona was left out with any result other than a victory.
Ángel Di María, who returned from an injury, added a few minutes and in his time on the field he became the best of his team, a step below the Costa Rican goalkeeper, while Koeman’s changes did not work. Trincao, Pjanic and Braithwaite hardly had chances and did not collaborate in the attack in the planned way. Thus ends the history of Barcelona and Messi.
