I Concierto de Temporada Virtual 2020.

“Given the current situation in the country, the National Symphony Orchestra has had to reinvent itself. We have achieved this thanks to the virtual presentations that all our public can enjoy at no cost through social networks. Now with this ‘Virtual Season’ we will have the opportunity to play chamber music and works that have never been performed with the entire orchestra, which are extremely beautiful and, from now on, we invite the public to see and listen to us every Friday from their homes ”, Explained Gabriel Goñi, General Director of the National Music Center.

The second virtual concert will be broadcast on Friday, September 4 and was performed by the OSN string sections with the works: “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3”, by Johann Sebastian Bach; “Evocación”, by Benjamín Gutiérrez and “Muerte del Ángel”, by Astor Piazzolla.

The other presentations will be announced week by week on the social networks and the website of the OSN and the Ministry of Culture and Youth. These will be of ensembles of bronzes, percussion, strings and groups that include various sections of the orchestra, as well as soloists of different instruments. The recording and editing of these concerts are carried out by the Costa Rican musical producer Walter Flores, winner of five Grammy Awards.

Due to the national situation generated by Covid-19, the OSN had to cancel all its face-to-face concerts in 2020 and, since last May, it has been working in reduced formats to bring music virtually to Costa Rican homes, the which is being published since June.

For the months of November and December, more virtual concerts are being planned from other stages and with the participation of the titular conductor, Carl St. Clair.
