The National Theater of Costa Rica (TNCR) invites the public to its “Theater Tour”, dramatized visits with which it is possible to visit this architectural jewel with actors who play roles inspired by characters from the time in which this building was built. , national monument of the country.

The visit takes a tour through the history of the TNCR, beginning in 1832 and explains the construction and details of that project, which began in 1891 and ended in 1897, the year it opened its doors to the public.

The visits will allow you to interact with characters such as Antonio Varela, master builder of the time; Manuela Rodríguez Alvarado, first lady, wife of President Rafael Iglesias Castro and with the peasants Patricia and Catrino, who came directly from the “Allegory of Commerce and Agriculture”; in this way, they will go through the first hall, the main hall, the foyer and the boxes.

These tours are offered in both English and Spanish and are led by actors Claudia Catania Pérez, Andrés Chacón Chinchilla, Lenín Quesada, and Adriana Salazar.

Tourists receive historical and curious information about the different areas of the Theater, which give them historical perspective and awareness of the value of this heritage space, but mainly reminds each of the visitors that this National Theater is theirs.

Tours are held every day from 9 a.m. at 4 p.m. The National Theater of Costa Rica will close its doors only on December 25, 2020 and January 1, 2021. As part of the protocols to protect your health and that of your staff, only groups of 10 people per hour will be served.
