Covid-19 status. April 19. +5 positive cases +15 recovered

EDITED: This afternoon the fifth death of a positive patient by COVID-19 was recorded at the Hospital San Juan de Dios. This is a 69-year-old man from Costa Rica, a neighbor of San José. The deceased, in addition to age, suffered from high blood pressure, a risk factor for COVID-19. His COVID-19 diagnosis was on March 25 and he was admitted to intensive care of San Juan de Dios since March 28. This unfortunately death joins the already registered of four men: two 87 years old, one 45 years old and one 84 years old.

Health Minister Daniel Salas announced today that 141 tests done this week on sentinel surveillance sites were negative for the virus responsible for COVID-19. These tests will continue to be performed at the 14 designated points (plus four hospitals) and the results obtained will be provided weekly.

The Minister also indicated that to date, there were 660 cases confirmed by COVID-19, with an age range of one to 87 years. There are 317 women and 343 men, 604 of whom are Costa Rican and 56 foreign.

Positive cases are recorded in 59 cantons of the seven provinces. By age, we have: 596 adults, 32 older adults and 32 minors. At present, 7,142 people have been rejected, 112 are registered as recovered, who belong to 33 cantons of the seven provinces, Alajuela being the canton which reports the most cases recovered for a total of 33 people.

There were four regrettable deaths, two 87-year-old men, a 45-year-old man and an 84-year-old man. 15 people are hospitalized, 10 of them are in intensive care with an age group of 44 to 75 years.

To date, a total of 10,417 samples have been processed.
