Costa Rica shines with clean energy at ITB Berlin Now 2021

With the clear purpose and slogan of positioning Costa Rica as the ideal destination to recharge energy, as well as a natural sanctuary to reconnect with what is truly essential in life, a total of 20 Costa Rican tourism companies participate in the first virtual edition of the fair ITB Berlin Now 2021.

The German ITB fair is considered the largest travel and tourism event in the world and this year will see the participation of more than 180 countries and more than 10,000 exhibitors. In this new modality, the fair will take place on a new virtual platform for appointments, businesses and exhibitions from March 9 to 12.

This year the organizers are clear about the global impact that the pandemic has caused on global tourism, which is why the slogan of this edition is “your time is now”, and even the general director of the event David Ruetz stated on the official website of ITB that the largest digital meeting on the planet “more than a new normal, it is the opportunity for a new impact” in the tourism industry and will set a thermometer for the future.

“Participating in the ITB Berlin Now international fair in its first virtual edition, a product of the new normal, undoubtedly contributes to Costa Rica being present in the minds of potential German tourists, it reinforces the positioning of our country as the ideal destination to recharge. energy in the middle of nature in a sanctuary of well-being with the presence of sustainability as a transversal axis ”, explained Ireth Rodríguez, head of ICT promotion.

Rodríguez added that “the ICT international fairs area has quickly adapted to the participation in this new format of virtual fairs and also this virtual negotiation platform in the largest fair in the world will allow 20 tourism entrepreneurs from the private sector to show their best of the tourist offer and to strengthen connections with European partners and allies, one of our main markets that we expect to rebound in the coming months ”.

Costa Rica promotes itself

“We must continue with more force than before to promote tourism in the country and even more so if it is about participation in the ITB, the most important tourism fair in the world. This year, being a virtual event, it entails an adaptation challenge for participants from all over the world. The presence of national tourism companies is important to reinforce the message that Costa Rica is the ideal destination for 2021 and that, in addition, we are ready with all the necessary protocols to receive European customers safely in a destination with great flexibility and beauty ”explained Álvaro Arguedas, executive president of Armotours, a tour operator specialized in the German market.

The Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Segura Sancho participated in the TB Future Track round table today at 7 a.m. German time, an occasion that he used to talk about Costa Rica’s ongoing efforts on the implementation of health protocols and what a destination that puts into practice the concept of integral and sustainable well-being of the “Pura Vida” is like.

According to the ITB organizers, the trading platform will remain open until May 31 and a series of conferences on the future of the tourism industry will be scheduled during the four days after facing the onslaught and the effects of Covid-19, as well as new trends.
