The Covid-19 Specialized Patient Care Center (CEACO) began this Monday, June 22, a preventive random screening to detect and isolate early those officials who are positive for covid-19, reported Dr. Roberto Aguilar Tassara, director of the National Center for Rehabilitation (CENARE).

After learning on Thursday June 18 that a nurse tested positive for covid-19, CEACO proceeded with an epidemiological investigation to identify her contacts, which were all negative, Aguilar Tassara explained.

The medical management, “has given the support to guarantee the continuity of the services in a safe way for the staff and the 21 patients who are currently admitted to CEACO,” said Dr. Mario Ruiz Cubillo, medical manager.

The head stated that for the CCSS the health of its officials is a priority, for which reason it always tries to provide them with the optimal conditions so that they can carry out their work in a safe environment.

As part of the investigation carried out by the Epidemiological Surveillance Commission, the Intra-Hospital Infections Committee and the Occupational Health Committee, since yesterday a screening has been applied in all services, starting with the nursing service with the aim of cutting transmission and ensuring that the working staff is healthy, reported CEACO epidemiologist Dr. Laura Blanco Chavarría.

Blanco Chavarría emphasized that the first results of the screening allowed 6 officials to be identified on Tuesday, June 23, who also tested positive for covid-19. Four of them were asymptomatic and two that met the definition of a suspected case established by the Ministry of Health.

The six officials were told that they should not come to work and that they should be kept in home isolation while the health order is being processed with the Ministry of Health, the epidemiologist explained.
