The multinational company AstraZeneca announced on Wednesday its expansion in the country with the inauguration of its new headquarters located in Roble Corporate Center, Escazú, in which US $ 8 million were invested.
Likewise, it was announced that the corporation will open 60 job positions in 2021, which will be added to the 260 employees currently working, to reach a total of 320.
The new headquarters includes the operations of AstraZeneca’s Purchasing and Financial Services Centers for the American continent, which will celebrate twenty years of operating in the country in 2021.
In the private inauguration activity – complying with all sanitary requirements requested by the Ministry of Health – the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado; the Minister of Foreign Trade, Andrés Valenciano; the CEO of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira and representatives of AstraZeneca.
President Alvarado highlighted the importance of the alliance that the country and this prominent company in the health industry have had for almost two decades, when it began operations on national soil, and that “it has recently been strengthened with the agreement that we signed for the supply of its potential vaccine against Covid-19, which it is developing together with the University of Oxford, and which would protect half a million people.

We reiterate our commitment to continue strengthening our human talent and to create the conditions to continue attracting investment that generates economic growth and good job opportunities, “added Alvarado.

The new offices have a total area of 3,615 m2, have the LEED sustainable building certification system and a physical and technological infrastructure that contributes to improving the well-being of employees.
