The inhabitants of the Paraíso de Cartago communities and their local economy will be the beneficiaries of two important road infrastructure projects promoted by the Rural Development Institute (Inder), the local government and the organized community, thanks to investments of ₡ 312.7 million.
It involves the intervention of the road in the El Consumidero sector to make it passable at all times of the year and a new bridge over the Páez River in Birrisito, damaged since 2005, which will enable an alternate communication route between Oreamuno, Paraíso and Cervantes..
On a tour this Wednesday through the province of Cartago, the executive president of the institution, Harys Regidor, delivered the new path in the El Consumidero sector, which aims to facilitate the marketing and commercialization of the production of the area, in addition to the transportation of residents of the communities of Ajenjal, Santiago and Río Regado.
The project, with an investment of ₡ 40 million by Inder, included the placement of the base and sub-base for the arena surface; construction of culvert passages and their concrete heads to generate protection for the rolling surface and give support to the system in general and facilitate access to the settlement. Asphalt was laid in some sectors to improve the rolling conditions and durability of the works.
“The infrastructure also favors competition related to horticultural-type productive activities, both from the beneficiaries of the settlement and the independent producers neighboring the place, a total of about 115 people. With the works, it will be possible to travel throughout the year, which was almost impossible in the rainy season, ”explained the chief.
“Here we have really felt the support of Inder, because not only do we have land to work and technical advice, but this road that was a headache for us, especially in the rainy season,” said Belisario Quirós, a producer in the area. and community leader.
