The Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR) will put into circulation the new 2, 5 and 20 thousand colones bills in the coming months.
The money will be printed on a polymer substrate, a compound similar to plastic, but recyclable, according to this bank, in a press release.
Despite the fact that they present adjustments in their design, and in their structure, among the security measures are to verify their authenticity, and to combat counterfeiting.
The next banknotes will maintain the same characters, motifs, tones, and sizes, as those currently circulating.
In this bank they indicated that once they are in motion, they will coexist for a certain period with the current ones, and will maintain their value as a means of payment in the national economy, until further communication.
Also in the coming weeks they will provide details of the security features of these tickets.
