Enjoy “Here Literary Culture” this Thursday and Friday

Lovers of reading and books have an appointment with the virtual program “Here Culture”, of the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ), produced by the Center for Artistic and Cultural Production (CPAC), which this weekend will offer a special edition called: “Here Literary Culture”, dedicated to the book and its productive ecosystem.

Under the slogan “Here Every One Counts”, the MCJ has produced spaces for artistic promotion that open spaces for recreation, entertainment and knowledge about the national artistic and cultural work, as part of access to cultural rights and as support to the different sectors affected by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this occasion, the exclusive space for the literary sector, and which is developed in partnership with Editorial CostaRica (ECR), will be offered this Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20 and will offer 66 proposals between talks, workshops, storytelling, recitals and various interviews, by national authors, editors, and literary artists. The live program will continue on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November; Furthermore, this special edition will close with the launch of 36 proposals in pre-recorded format that the public will be able to enjoy at any time of the day, starting on November 30, through the site www.aquicultura.go.cr

“Obituary of a starry night” can be seen from home

The Melico Salazar Popular Theater, and its National Theater Company program, invite the public to the transmission of the theatrical shows that were beneficiaries in the call for the contest “Staging 2020”, which, on this occasion, was modified to benefit more than 30 stage directors in different types of projects, to be presented in virtual format.

This weekend, the show “Obituary of a Starry Night” will be offered, produced by Fabio Pérez and Andy Gamboa Arte Escénico, which addresses “a social problem that is quietly increasing during this pandemic: stress, social isolation, and depression, which makes those people emotionally and psychologically ill who often find no way out, and choose to end their lives. This happens today, here and now more than ever ”, reported the group.

“The work touches on the subject of suicide based on social exclusion, where people experience indifference and hatred from their social circles; this leads them to the behavior of isolation, a feeling of loneliness, depression, unstable psychological behaviors and finally to an attempt on their life ”, reported the performing arts group.

“Obituary of a Starry Night” can be seen virtually, from November 19 to 22, Thursday through Saturday, at 8 pm; Sunday at 5 p.m. Accesses for sale on the website: www.teatromelico.go.cr for a value of ¢ 2,500 colones.
