The districts of Pococí, Peñas Blancas (San Ramón), Los Chiles (Los Chiles), La Fortuna (San Carlos), Upala and Paquera (Puntarenas) will continue on orange alert until June 24 in order to contain the transmission, flatten the contagion curve for COVID-19 and reduce its side effects.

On the other hand, the districts of Cañas and Bebedero in the canton of Cañas, and Las Juntas in the canton of Abangares will go on yellow alert, only the differentiated vehicle restriction will be maintained from Monday to Sunday from 5 p.m. 5 am.

This was announced by the Minister of Health, Daniel Salas and the president of the National Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Attention (CNE), Alexander Solís, at a press conference this Wednesday, at noon.

“The analysis of the epidemiological situation carried out by the Ministry of Health allows us to modify the alerts established for the Cañas and Abangares areas, however, the call to these communities, and in general to the country, is the same. We are in a pandemic and the risk is permanent. We must be highly responsible in prevention measures, “said CNE President Alexander Solís.

Orange alert.

Districts will have special regulation in establishments with sanitary operating permits, which may operate from Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. at 5:00 p.m. And the weekends. The time restriction does not apply to supermarkets, pharmacies, grocery stores, suppliers and health services, as well as those establishments exceptionally enabled by the Ministry of Health.

Take into account that the routes excepted from differentiated vehicle restrictions are maintained and that they are subject to the vehicle restriction of Executive Decree number 42253-MOPT-S of March 24, 2020 are:

  2. 6 (Cañas-Upala)
  3. 142 (Cañas-Tilarán-La Fortuna)
  4. 702 (San Ramón – La Fortuna)
  5. 18 (Abangares-Nicoya)
  6. 32 (Braulio Carrillo)

Regarding the restriction of access to navigation in rivers, which applies from Monday to Sunday, from 5:00 pm to 5:00 a.m., they are:

  1. Medio Queso
  2. Frío
  3. Sistema de Canalización del Caribe Norte (Canales de Tortuguero)
  4. Colorado
  5. Sarapiquí
  6. San Carlos

Inter-institutional operation in inspection of farms and agricultural companies.

From the northern area of ​​Costa Rica, the Minister of Public Security, Government and Police, Michael Soto, reported on the operation being carried out in the region on an inter-institutional basis with the aim of inspecting the operation of the agricultural sector, under sanitary guidelines, labor and immigration, in the framework of the national emergency.

Authorities from the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock, Health, the Costa Rican Public Security Fund, the National Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Attention (CNE) and police bodies from the Ministry of Public Security and Migration participate in the operation.

Minister Soto indicated that a verification work in the area of ​​health, social guarantees, immigration, among others, is carried out, “it is a joint work that aims to ensure the safety of citizens and that is why we are working on this sector for the good of all ”, said the hierarchy of Public Security.

Coincidentally with Soto, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Ana Cristina Quirós, highlighted the inter-institutional work that is being carried out in the agricultural sector in the face of the pandemic situation, “we are very grateful to all the teams and to the sector that has also put the T-shirt to improve all conditions, guidelines of existing regulations in relation to labor, health and safety issues that are being met today, “he said.
