Health reports eleventh death related to COVID-19
June 8, 2020. Today the eleventh death related to COVID-19 is counted, it is a 26-year-old woman, a Costa Rican, neighbor of the province of Alajuela, whose only identified risk factor was being asthmatic.
The finding of the virus is recorded post mortem. The judicial report indicates that the patient was declared deceased at the Guatuso Clinic on May 30 at 10:36 a.m. According to the testimony of a relative in the medical file, the patient had no respiratory symptoms, she was taken to the clinic by her family due to vaginal bleeding.
As part of the protocols for the pandemic, the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) requests that the COVID-19 test be carried out on all the deceased that history suggests or that the autopsy guides the need to carry out said testing. In this case, the autopsy determined pulmonary edema, which warranted the COVID-19 test.
INCIENSA received the evidence today from the OIJ to be processed. This is the first COVID-19 post mortem positivity registered in our country.
This death is added to the 10 regrettable deaths already registered: a woman and nine men with an age range of 45 to 87 years.
The investigation into the case and her contacts continues.
