Screening data at entry points

At the Juan Santamaría, Tobías Bolaños and Liberia airports, 34 flights have been serviced from April 17 to Friday May 22, for a total of 2,022 passengers served.

In total 1,842 respiratory samples were taken and of these 29 (2%) were positive. The difference in samples with respect to passengers is due to the fact that in the first flights it was only applied to symptomatic people.

In land borders from May 5 to 22, a total of 2,458 respiratory samples have been performed, of which 63 were positive. In Tablillas Los Chiles 441 have been taken, in Peñas Blancas 1,242, in Sixaola 171 and in Paso Canoas 604. Of the positives, 16 were Tablillas, 45 in Peñas Blancas and two in Paso Canoas.

Regarding the screening in ports, they have been attended: in Puntarenas on April 30, in which samples were taken from 3 Costa Rican crew of the Seven Seas Navigator cruise ship and in Limón, on May 19, 82 Costa Rican crew and some with residence from the Rhapsody of the Seas cruise ship. All with negative results.

Screenings in high social risk areas

The CCSS is currently screening in 36 high-risk communities throughout the country. Since May 1, 2,344 samples have been taken, of which three have tested positive. Every week 30 samples are randomly taken in each community, in strategic places such as supermarkets, barracks, salons, churches, nursing homes, ebáis, others

This strategy will be applied during the month of May as established by the Ministry of Health.
