The General Directorate of Migration and Aliens and the Ministry of Health confirm two positive cases of COVID-19 of foreigners who are apprehended at the Central Regional Apprehension Center (CARC), in the offices of the Directorate of the Professional Migration Police (PPM), located in Heredia.
Foreigners were preventively isolated by applying sanitary measures and awaiting the corresponding migratory process. They started symptoms on Thursday, April 30, so the COVID-19 test was performed yesterday, May 1, testing positive today. They are stable in health and remain in isolated areas, within the cells of the Center.
COVID-19 tests are being arranged with the Ministry of Health and the CCSS to be applied among the personnel and foreigners who are currently apprehended.
Since March 17, family visits for foreigners apprehended to the CARC have been suspended. The DGME has health care and prevention protocols established since the beginning of the emergency, both for dealing with officers and with those apprehended.
The General Directorate of Migration and Aliens continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Health the corresponding measures and actions.
