Under the slogan “Con vos Podemos”, this Tuesday was the launch of the official campaign to receive financial donations in order to bring humanitarian aid to vulnerable people and families affected by the emergency caused by Covid-19.
The campaign -which will last until April 30- is promoted by the Government of the Republic together with the Costa Rican Banking Association (ABC), the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (FEDEAC) and kölbi.
At a press conference at the CNE facilities, the First Lady, Claudia Dobles, announced this official channel on Tuesday, created through a public-private alliance so that people can make their financial donation, which will be translated into basic supplies such as food and hygiene kits for vulnerable families.
The inputs will be purchased from national farmers, enterprises and businesses in each community, which will in turn allow the local economy to be reactivated. The distribution will be in charge of the Municipal Emergency Committees.
“In the face of this difficult time we are going through, we see the solidarity that characterizes us as Costa Ricans. It is important that people know that “With You We Can” is the official and safe channel to donate, “said the First Lady.
For his part, the president of the CNE, Alexander Solís, commented that “the initiative comes from the request of sectors of the population that want to support other people who are in need. What we do from the Government is to facilitate coordination so that there is a safe channel to collect funds and also ensure that this aid reaches those who need it as soon as possible and that along the way it benefits the local economy. ”
Who and how will you help? The economic donations received during the “Con Vos Podemos” campaign will translate into supplies to satisfy immediate needs for food and cleaning kits. The identification of families as well as the distribution of donations will be channeled through the 90 Municipal Emergency Committees. The purchase of inputs will be made through credits in shops, local farmers and enterprises, in order to collaborate with the economic reactivation of the different regions.
Food will arrive at the beneficiaries’ house to avoid crowds. For this, it will have the support of the first response institutions, which will maintain the protocols to avoid any contagion.
