INCOP opens tender for construction of berth in Isla Chira

The Costa Rican Institute of Pacific Ports (INCOP) reported that the tender for the public tender for the project “Construction of Berth on Isla Chira”, a project executed, financed and developed by the Public Procurement System (SICOP), is now available. said institution.

With an investment of approximately 512 million colones, the Isla Chira Berth seeks to solve the needs of port facilities for the benefit of this community, favoring the development of tourist activities related to sport fishing, boating, diving, yachts, among others .

Juan Ramón Rivera, executive president of the institution, stated that “this project is the first island berth in the country and will serve to enhance the socioeconomic development of Chira, by offering better conditions that will further promote this tourist destination and enable a new space that provide the inhabitants of this community with the necessary port facilities to promote their development. ”

Rivera mentioned that, within the framework of inter-institutional cooperation, INCOP signed a letter of understanding with the Rural Development Institute (INDER) in September to promote the construction of port infrastructure on the Pacific coast and promote economic, social and environmental revival of the entire coast.

“Historically, ITCO, IDA and INDER have seen land as a source for development; In this administration we have understood that Costa Rica is bigger at sea than on land, therefore, we turn our gaze to the sea. This alliance with Incop allows us to understand that historical need that populations in the Costa Rican Pacific have had to have the necessary infrastructure to guarantee the development of families in our rural coastal territories, ”emphasized the executive president of INDER, Harys Regidor Barboza.

Through this agreement, INDER is expected to cost at least half of the investment in this berth and another one that are currently within the INCOP portfolio of projects.

The institution has plans to build berths throughout the province of Puntarenas, specifically in the regions of Zancudo, Pavones, Isla Tortuga, Pitahaya (Estero de Puntarenas), Montezuma and Bahía Drake.
