Foreign Ministry serves more than 1,000 nationals in 57 affected countries in their travel plans due to international situation

The Ministry of Foreign Relations intensifies efforts to serve more than 1,000 Costa Ricans who have been affected by transport restriction measures by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in 57 countries and seeks to expedite the return of those who have not yet been able to return. to the country.

As of March 26, the records show a total of 1,005 Costa Ricans who have been treated, of which 451 have been able to return to national soil, while efforts are multiplied so that another 554 can do so as soon as possible.

The data, preliminary and in permanent construction, delivered on March 25, which accounted for 764 people attended, were added new cases in Belgium, Belize, Japan, India, Luxembourg, Singapore, Turkey and Uruguay. Costa Ricans who are already in the country went from 388 to 451, while those who are waiting to return went from 376 to 554. The efforts to bring them back continue.

Faced with the gradual and increasing closure of air traffic, by sea and land in the world, the Foreign Ministry has reiterated the call to Costa Ricans to value the trips they have planned and only schedule those that are strictly urgent and necessary.

He also recalled that he made available the email [email protected] for the attention of queries on the situation caused by COVID-19.
