Travel through Costa Rican history and culture with the microcapsules of the National Library

Learn about the history of newspapers in Costa Rica, the railway, or what Christmas celebrations were like in the first half of the 20th century in Costa Rica, among a wide variety of topics through the microcapsules that the National Library of Costa Rica makes available of the public through the site www.sinabi.go.cr

It consists of 102 microcapsules that were co-produced with the radios of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), as well as more than 50 audios produced by the School of History of the National University (UNA), which are an interesting and valuable material for everything public and, especially, for students.

Traveling in history

The microcapsules were made from the heritage collections held by the National Library, and are transmitted by UCR radios and are also available on the portal of the National Library System (SINABI) at the address: www.sinabi.go.cr/biblioteca%20digital/Audios/Sonidos%20de%20Costa%20Rica.aspx

“The objective of these capsules is to spread the history and culture as well as to reach all audiences sharing very varied themes. Rodríguez added that this material can also be heard on the SINABI App, which is free and available for all types of mobile phones.

Costa Rica in the tram times

In addition, the National Library will offer, through the SINABI portal www.sinabi.go.cr, more than 50 audios produced by the Graduate School of History of the National University, the National Institute of Learning (INA) and the Theater of the Mind “Costa Rica in the times of the tram”, consisting of capsules that will transport listeners to Costa Rica at the beginning of the 20th century.
