The Ministry of Health was emphatic today that although four new cases are accounted for by COVID-19, it does not mean that we can let our guard down, on the contrary, we must continue with the indicated hygiene measures and the urgent social distancing.
“We have to keep our guard up and continue with the measures, this is the main message that we want to reinforce” stressed the President of the Republic in the live transmission through which the Director of Health Surveillance of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Marín shared the data with citizens and the press.
This Saturday, March 21, it registers 117 cases confirmed by COVID-19, with an age range of 2 to 87 years. There are 48 women and 69 men, of whom 107 are Costa Rican and 10 foreigners.
Positive cases are registered in 26 cantons of six provinces: San José, Heredia, Guanacaste, Alajuela, Cartago and Limón. Puntarenas continues without cases. By age we have: 100 adults, 10 older adults and 7 minors.
At this time 1190 people have been discarded and 2 have been discharged. As of today, there are two regrettable deaths, two Costa Rican men, both 87 years old, one of them was hypertensive and the other had a history of vascular origin.
Six people are hospitalized, three of them in intensive care.
