Creative Economy Seminar will take place in Costa Rica

Inspiring strategies for the inclusive and sustainable use of digitalization based on solutions appropriate to the scale, uniqueness and potential of each territory, through the strengthening of productive chains in the creative and cultural economy, is the purpose of the international seminar “Creative Economy and Inclusion in the Digital Revolution ”, which will be held in Costa Rica, on March 18 and 19, at the facilities of the National Center of Culture (Cenac).

The meeting is held by the Ministry of Culture and Youth, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

The seminar, through discussion panels, conferences and workshops led by national and international experts, will address the experience and cases of analysis of digital animation in Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama, as well as the identification of opportunities in less recurrent sectors, such as rural or artisanal agriculture and design, under a gender approach.

Sylvie Durán, Minister of Culture and Youth, said that “in the framework of the digital economy and the fourth industrial revolution, in line with the provisions of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, we have the challenge of moving towards policies and institutions really innovative, not only associated with new knowledge, new business models and new productive relationships, but inclusive and that dignify people. Culture has much to contribute in this regard: on the one hand, for its centrality in the matter of social cohesion, of a sense of belonging and self-esteem of people and communities, of the development of soft skills that are now understood as fundamental in economic production and The strength of development. But also, for our own universe of services, goods and talent with which we generate opportunities, employment or value to other areas. With the work we launched, articulated to several institutions, we hope to strengthen our contribution to well-being and closing gaps. ”
 

The activity will have the active participation of Carlos Aguilar, Minister of Culture of Panama; Carmen Vásquez, Minister of Culture of Colombia; Juan Fernando Velasco, Minister of Culture of Ecuador; Mario Cimoli, Deputy Executive Secretary of ECLAC; as well as international and national experts in the subject of creative and cultural economy, gender, innovation and technological development.

The list of participants is complemented by the Costa Rican hierarchs of the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ), Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications; National Women’s Institute, Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, National Learning Institute, international organizations; as well as representatives of the audiovisual, digital animation, design, among others.
