An alliance between the Ministry of Health, the National Council of Production and the Costa Rican Post Office will allow the population of the entire country to be supplied with this solution. In coordination with the Economic Council, the Post Office created crpreviene.com to sell the product online and deliver it to domicile or through the Smart Post Office Boxes. Given the emergency, each person will have access to two units, with the aim of preventing speculation, achieving an equitable distribution and protecting people. As of March 14, there are 27 confirmed cases and 415 discarded
Starting next Tuesday you will be able to purchase the alcoholic antiseptic solution for hand hygiene that the National Liquor Factory (Fanal) produces in a 350 ml container, a formula recommended by the World Health Organization.
In coordination with the Economic Council, an agreement was signed with the Ministry of Public Health and the National Production Council (CNP), from which Correos de Costa Rica created the platform crpreviene.com.
Through this platform, people will be able to request the product and its delivery, either at home or through any of the 103 Intelligent Post Office Boxes (API) located throughout the country. In order to avoid speculation and protect people’s pockets, the system will allow each user to purchase a maximum of two units per month and will keep a detailed control of daily sales in order to ensure an equitable distribution. The cost per unit is 2,000 colones plus 750 colones per shipment to any part of the country.
“Correos will implement an entire fullfilment process through which product inventories will be managed, receive order forms through the online platform, list orders and distribute them throughout the national territory,” explained General Manager Jorge Solano.
He specified that delivery times apply for a national courier service and orders will have a tracking code that can be monitored from the same platform. For his part, José Alexis Jiménez, president of the Costa Rican Postal Board, commented: “We have a great responsibility as a Costa Rican company to contribute in the search for solutions so that the entire population has access to the necessary tools to prevent contagion by COVID-19 ”.
He stated that, in this way, “we make our coverage network available that covers the entire national territory, in order to join this extraordinary effort that the institutions are making to strengthen prevention.”
“Exclusively for sale online, Fanal will produce 2,000 bottles a day indefinitely, until the health authorities determine that the risk has ended,” said Rogis Bermúdez, executive president of the National Production Council. The hierarch detailed that the placement of the antiseptic alcohol in detail – which has been sold from the Fanal facilities in Greece – will be done from now on through the platform created by Correos de Costa Rica.
The antiseptic solution for hand hygiene has been the most sought after product by the population. Its chemical formula is endorsed and recommended by the World Health Organization, due to the high control and neutralization of bacteria and viruses in a higher percentage than alcohol gel, to which the public has access.
As of today, March 14, the data records 27 confirmed cases with an age range of 10 to 87 years. There are 15 women and 12 men, of whom 23 are Costa Rican and 4 foreigners, registering positive cases in San José, Heredia, Guanacaste, Alajuela and Cartago. By age we have: 22 adults, three seniors and two minors. At this time 415 people have been discarded.
