Live the month of Love and Friendship with romantic ballads, boleros, pieces by Gilberto Santa Rosa, Roberto Carlos and Ricardo Montaner among others, at the concerts that will be given by the Concert Bands that are part of the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ).
Check below the agenda of activities of your community and invite your partner, friends and family to celebrate with the MCJ Concert Bands on Saint Valentine’s Day.
Guanacaste’s Concert Bands
They will have concerts on February 13, at 7 p.m., in Liberia’s Mario Cañas park and on February 16, at 10 a.m., in Liberia’s Cañas Dulces park.
The Band will perform in both concerts: the Blue Danube of Strauss, Norma de Guadalajara, Churumbelerias, Historia de un Amor, Oppresion and Bésame Mucho, among others.
“We want to invite the public to these concerts, that we have prepared with love for all Liberia and for all visitors, where we will celebrate the Day of Love and Friendship with romantic music for all tastes“, said Ronald Estrada, director of the Guanacaste Concert Band .
Puntarenas’ Concert Bands
The Band of Puntarenas will have a concert on Thursday, February 13, at 6 pm, in the Puntarenas Lighthouse, with repertoire of boleros and romantic ballads, including: “Bésame” by Ricardo Montaner, “Bésame mucho” by Consuelo Velázquez, “No llores por mí” Argentina Arr: Ron Sebrets ,“Noche inolvidable” by Ricardo Mora, among others.
The concert would be repeated on Sunday 16, at 10 a.m., near the Esparza Park.

Cartago’s Concert Bands
They will perform two concerts for Saint Valentine’s Day, under the title “Cómplices”, in addition they will have the participation of guest singer Fabián Zolo.
The repertoire will include songs such as: “Cama y Mesa”, “La Cima del Cielo”, “Cuando quieras donde quieras”, among others.
“I invite all Carthaginians to join us on Friday, February 14, starting at 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 11, at 11 a.m., with a concert that we have titled -Complices- that will convert us all into accomplices of love and friendship. We will also have the participation of singer Fabián Solo who will be performing songs by Gilberto Santa Rosa, Roberto Carlos, Jairo, among others, we are waiting for you” said the band’s director, German Paniagua.
The concerts will be this Friday, February 14, at 7 p.m., in Cartago’s Municipal Amphitheater and on Sunday, February 16, at 11 a.m., on the Paseo San Luis known as “Los mercaditos” in Cartago.
San José’s Concert Bands
To celebrate the month of Love and Friendship, the San José Concert Band invites you to the two concerts they will have during this month of February 2020.
The first will take place on Sunday, February 16, at 11 a.m., in the Church of Moravia. The following works will be performed: Romeo and Juliet de Tchaikovsky, music from films such as: Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, How to train your Dragon and pieces such as “With You from a Distance”, among others.
On Sunday, February 23, at 11 a.m., the second concert will take place, at the National Museum, which will feature themes from classics to danceable ones, for the enjoyment of all attendees.
The concert will be titled “Historias de amor contadas con música”, with the following repertoire: “The Legend of the Kiss- Soutullo-J. Vert ”,“ Porgy and Bess-G. Gershwin ”,“ Ruslán and Liudmila – (Mikhail Glinka) ”,“ Tribute to Charles Chaplin ”and“ Goodbye Nonino-Astor Piazzolla ”.
“The theme of these concerts will be in relation to love and friendship, the concert of the 16 will be directed by the deputy director of the Band Josué Jiménez and within the works to be performed is the suite of Romeo and Juliet of Tchaikovsky, as well as boleros and ballads and music from movies that revolve around the theme of love and friendship”, said Bautista.
Alajuela’s Concert Bands
The Alajuela Concert Band will give a single concert this Sunday, February 16, at 10 a.m., at the kiosk of the Alajuela Central Park. It will have within the repertoire music of Leonard Bernstein, Glenn Miller and Ferrer Ferrán, among others.
Heredia’s Concert Bands
This Band will offer concerts on Thursday, February 20 at 5 p.m., and on Sunday 23, at 10 a.m., both at Heredia Central Park, dedicated to the celebration of love and friendship.
The public will appreciate topics such as: I can’t stop looking at you from B. Crewe and B. Gaudio; Crazy Little thing called love, from the Queen; Nothing will change my love for you, with soloist Harold Vargas on the trumpet, in addition to music by Rossini and O. Navarro, among others.
On Sunday, February 23, there will be the participation of the national singer Rocío Campos who will interpret romantic themes such as: Urge, Dile que por mí no tema, Piel Canela and others.
“Composers from very different eras have dedicated beautiful melodies to love, performed by great artists. In these concerts we will present a compilation of some of the most remembered”, said Andrés Porras, director of the Heredia Concert Band.
