The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSN) Celebrates 80 years

The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSN), reaches its 80 years of trajectory in 2020, and will celebrate it, along with all the citizenry, with more than 90 performances throughout the national territory.

The presentations, which in 60 per cent of cases will be available free of charge, will be offered in different public spaces and educational centres throughout the country, through national tours and cultural outreach presentations, which will begin in February.

The group is scheduled to visit the provinces of Guanacaste, Limón, Puntarenas, as well as the southern zone, where at least 15 free concerts will be held. In addition, a series of presentations were planned in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) to celebrate the 80th anniversary on 31 October 2020.

The 2020 Season of the National Symphony Orchestra will be very special because we celebrate the 80th anniversary, remaining one of the oldest orchestras in Latin America. This year we are going to perform more than 90 concerts across the country; a number of performances that exceed what has been done in recent years, said Gabriel Goñi, general director of the National Music Center (CNM)Ministry of Culture and Youth, to which the OSN belongs.

Another remarkable detail is the realization of at least three tours in rural areas of the country, where the orchestra can be enjoyed free of charge in communities, schools and colleges of Guanacaste, Puntarenas, Limon and the south of, the director added.
