The Christmas atmosphere is beginning to be felt in the atmosphere, and the cultural offer of the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ) shows that we are very close to this expected festivity.
The National Theatre of Costa Rica, the Department of Culture, the Center of Artistic and Cultural Production, the Concert Bands of the country, among other instances of the MCJ, will offer a series of cultural activities this weekend; Some of them mark the beginning of Christmas. Guanacastearte Festival arrives in Santa Cruz
After having visited each of the cantons of the province. The Guanacastearte Festival concludes its itinerant trajectory with the 2019 edition, which in this opportunity will correspond to the canton of Santa Cruz.
Dance, folklore, theatre, music, storytelling, visual arts, crafts, cultural endeavors, workshops, gatherings. Among other activities, make up the 2019 program. Wiich will be held on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November. At the Civic Center for Peace in Santa Cruz, as the main venue, as well as at the baseball field of the Santa Cruz Sports Centre.
The Guanacastearte Festival began its trajectory in 2008, with its edition in Liberia; subsequently, it visited Hojancha, in 2009; Abangares, in 2010; La Cruz, in 2011; Bagaces, 2012; Tilarán, 2013; Nandayure, 2014; Carrillo, 2016; Nicoya, 2017; Cañas, 2018, and is currently preparing for its latest edition, in Santa Cruz, 2019.

National Theatre opens doors to the Christmas season
The spotlights of the National Theatre of Costa Rica will be moved this Sunday 1 December to its gardens to celebrate the beginning of Christmas. From 3 p.m., a beautiful tradition will be offered for the enjoyment of the whole family: the recreation of the manger, played by Costa Rican actors who will personify the Holy Family, the wise men and the shepherds, accompanied by the talent of the Youth Choir of the National Institute of Music, who will add their voices to the recreation of the live nativity scene.
The Department of Conservation of the National Theatre is responsible for the design and construction of the portal. For which materials such as caobilla wood, caña brava and bamboo were used on a metal platform covered with hay.
This year, the National Theatre joined Davivienda’s support to present a luxury Choral Day. In which eight national choirs of first level will be presented on 1, 2 and 3 December in the Plaza de la Cultura, with free shows.
The choir performances will be: Monday 2 December: Coro Sinergia Coral de Puriscal, Rondalla mayor de la UCR and Grupo Experimental de la UCR. At the end of the activity. Central de Radios will offer a mini Christmas concert in the gardens of the TNCR; on Tuesday 3 December: Buenaventura Corrales School Choir, Café Chorale, Intermezzo Choir and Concordia Coral Children’s Choir. Both days, the concerts will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Plaza de la Cultura. Activities are free.
Army Abolition Day to be celebrated with music and dance
This December 1, a large concert open to the public will commemorate the 71 years of the Abolition of the Army, in the Plaza de la Democracia.
The artistic offer begins at 7 p.m. With the choral show of Estudio Choralia; afterwards. The public will be able to appreciate an enveloping light intervention by PULSE, which seeks to cross the limits, creating a unique experience and making them part of this staging.
The popular dance will be made present with La Cuna del Swing Company of Ligia Torijano’s Que Viva el Baile. To make way for the closing, with a large concert by the International Orchestra Lubín Barahona Caballeros y Damas del ritmo (79th anniversary). The programme of activities is free and open to all.

La Libertad Park invites the public to its “Traditional Christmas Festival”, this Saturday, November 30, from 2 p.m., in the fairground of La Libertad Park, located in Fátima de Desamparados. The programming will include children’s games, bingo, theatre, circus, music, parades and gunpowder game. The activity is free and open to the public.
La Banda de Conciertos Cartago invites to a special presentation with collection of toys, on Sunday 1 December, at 11 a.m., at the Municipal Amphitheater of Cartago.
The National Museum invites you to visit its new temporary exhibition [, a show that makes visible and makes to reflect on those wild animals that came out of their natural habitats to coexist with the people in the city. Available from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
La Banda de Conciertos de San José invites you to its Christmas concert on Sunday, December 1, at 12 noon, at the Church of Barrio Luján. Free entry.
