GuanacasteArte Festival: closes tour in Santa Cruz

After having visited each of the cantons of the province, the Guanacastearte Festival concludes its itinerant trajectory with the 2019 edition, which in this opportunity will correspond to the canton of Santa Cruz.

Dance, folklore, theatre, music, storytelling, visual arts, crafts, cultural endeavors, workshops, gatherings, among other activities, make up the 2019 program, which will be held on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November, at the Civic Center for Peace in Santa Cruz (CCPSC), as the main venue, as well as at the Santa Cruz Sports Centre baseball field

In this edition, we recognize the contribution of artistic and cultural production from Guanacaste to the country and to the rest of the world. Guanacaste has a lot to give and we want spaces like this to continue to be created, created and promoted in all regions of the country. We hope that the public who visit us will take a piece of what we do so fondly in this province, said Vera Vargas, cultural manager in Guanacaste, which is part of the Culture Directorate of the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ).

GuanacasteArte, 11 years of touring the corners of the province

The Guanacastearte Festival began its trajectory in 2008, with its edition in Liberia; subsequently, it visited Hojancha, in 2009; Abangares, in 2010; La Cruz, in 2011; Bagaces, 2012; Tilarán, 2013; Nandayure, 2014; Carrillo, 2016; Nicoya, 2017; Cañas, 2018, and is currently preparing for its latest edition, in Santa Cruz, 2019.

During these years, the Guanacastearte Festival allowed many local artists to have a space to show their work, their cultural products and, from there, to position themselves on the regional and national scene. To conclude in 2019 the trajectory of this festival is cause of satisfaction, for having achieved that this festival became a platform for the regional artist and a sample of joint production with the community, that year after year it strengthened knowledge by sharing experiences and demonstrating its artistic production, explained Vera Vargas.

Vargas added that the production processes of the Guanacastearte Festival in all its editions, revitalized the cultural production work of Guanacaste, and Costa Rica, and allowed to promote quality productions accompanied by cultural management and promotion processes.

Guanacastearte concludes its trajectory, leaving a mark on the host communities, with which it is confirmed that the cultural production of this type, contributes and complements the cultural and artistic offer and, In addition, it allows to visualize the production that takes place in the province.

Since the origins of the Guanacastearte Festival, it has been proposed to visit the eleven cantons of Guanacaste. A cycle that will be completed this year, with its edition in Santa Cruz. For this reason. During 2020, the Department of Culture of the MCJ. Will seek to create spaces for dialogue with people who have been producers, managers and artists, in each of the cantons that toured Guanacastearte. With the purpose of carrying out an analysis of the lived experience, in order to identify the future of Guanacastearte. This process will be an open call, the results of which will be systematized and subsequently released.

After eleven years of experience, the Guanacastearte Festival has developed a methodology of work in cultural management, which can be implemented both from the Cultural Management Office of the MCJ, as from any other institution or body that seeks to carry out a project through inter-institutional coordination.

Cultural events, which go beyond folklore, such as contemporary dance, classical music, theatre, clown, entrepreneurship and much more, took place in Guanacastearte. This festival reaffirmed us as a dynamic province, that is constantly evolving and that clings to its traditions; it allowed us to generate a space where we all live together, where what we produce we show to residents, local and visitors, to offer a meeting space, concluded Vargas.
