An exhibition with more than 62 pieces of at least 52 Costa Rican and central american artists. Are getting together to celebrate the 25th years of existence of the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporaneo.

Some of the works have already been part of several kinds of activites. From Pedagogical Mediation, cinema cicles, concerts, picnics, Karaokes. A skateboard ramp, football fields and even scenery for several multidisciplinary arts. .

The exhibition call (A+D) *25=Ag / Historiografía MADC. Comes from the statistic revision of the metrics of the museum across the decades. Generating a mathematical formula. Giving a name to the new permanent exhibition. That will be open to the public from the 14th of June until the 24 of August. In the rooms 1, 3 and 3 of the Museum.

The idea sprout because one of my jobs in the institution is to stuyd and analyze the permanent collection. How has it form and how has it build. For that reason it seam important to check. Which pieces had constructed the the discourse of the institution during this 25 years. It is relevant to note that the 2 most seen pieces belong to female Costa Rican artists. Which reflects the hard labour made to break gaps in the visual arts.

Daniel Soto Morúa. Curator of the MADC

The exhibition was designed selectin the works that had been exhibit more often. Among the permanent collection. And others acquired during the past 10 years. Under the supervision of Fiorella Resenterra. This means that this current exhibition will have works focus on the pictoric and others gravitating towards the media a visual and installation side of the arts.

The fact that the Museum is making a stop. To evaluate itself after 25 years of works. Seams not only a relevant exercise, but a healthy and bold decision. To reach conclusion base on the raw data collected during all this years. Allow for a sane perspective to understand and question the transformations experience by the institution. Reflected in the curation script follow during this years. Creating a exhibition that challenges the visitors to question the vibrant, and active and always uneasy characteristics of the works.

Fiorella Resenterra. Director of the MADC
